Esmé began her classical music journey at the age of six, starting with piano and later adding clarinet to her repertoire. During her teenage years, she developed a passion for contemporary piano and organ. By the age of 16, she was already performing as a pianist and organist in church services, weddings, and other functions.
At 19, Esmé pursued advanced music studies, earning a Grade 10 Teacher’s Diploma in piano and organ from the Alec Benjamin School of Contemporary Music. She subsequently dedicated several years to teaching piano and organ.In 1997, Esmé emigrated to Vancouver, Canada, where she explored digital piano recordings and discovered a deep appreciation for modern worship music.
She returned to South Africa in 2004 and began formal violin studies in 2013, guided by personal tutors and self-study through Violin Lab.Esmé joined the Rand Symphony Orchestra as a violinist in June 2017 and performed with the ensemble until 2023. She achieved ABRSM Grade 8 Theory with merit in March 2018 and ABRSM Grade 8 Violin in June 2019. Her love for mastering new instruments led her to begin accordion lessons in January 2022 under the tutelage of Sergio Zampolli.Performing under the name Music for the Soul,
Esmé is a versatile solo musician specializing in weddings, corporate events, private parties, art exhibitions, restaurants, and retirement communities. She also collaborates with other musicians to provide duo, trio, or quartet performances when required.
